International Tattoo Judge | Laura Egea Tattoo Artist Dallas

Being selected as a judge at international tattoo conventions is one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional career. It is both a responsibility and a privilege to evaluate the work of fellow artists, contribute to the industry, and witness firsthand the incredible creativity and technical skill that continue to shape the world of tattooing.

What Being a Tattoo Judge Means to Me

Being invited to serve as an International Tattoo Judge is something I feel genuinely proud of. Beyond the recognition itself, it represents a level of trust from convention organizers and fellow artists that I deeply appreciate.

Judging a tattoo competition is both rewarding and challenging. In many cases, judges must evaluate a large number of tattoos within a limited amount of time while remaining as objective and fair as possible. Every piece deserves attention, and every artist has invested countless hours into their work.

One of the aspects I enjoy most is the opportunity to observe the incredible diversity of artistic approaches within the tattoo industry. Each convention brings together artists with different influences, techniques and creative visions. Seeing this variety firsthand is not only inspiring but also an important learning experience that continues to help me grow as an artist.

I also value the human side of these events. Throughout my experiences as a judge, I have always felt welcomed by organizers, fellow judges and artists. The tattoo community is constantly evolving, and conventions provide a unique opportunity to witness new trends, innovations and artistic developments as they emerge.

For me, serving as an International Tattoo Judge is not only about evaluating tattoos. It is about supporting the growth of the industry, learning from other artists and contributing to a profession that continues to evolve and push creative boundaries every year.

International Tattoo Judge Experience

Over the years, I have been invited to serve as a judge at several international conventions across Europe and Latin America. Being selected as a judge is one of the highest professional recognitions within the tattoo industry, as it reflects the trust that organizers place in an artist’s technical knowledge, artistic criteria and professional experience.

As a color realism tattoo artist, I have had the opportunity to evaluate hundreds of tattoo entries, review work from artists around the world and participate in judging panels at major conventions. These experiences have allowed me to contribute to the tattoo community while staying connected with the highest standards of artistic excellence.

Serving as an International Tattoo Judge at Marche Tattoo Convention for two consecutive years, in April 2025 and April 2026, has been a particularly meaningful experience. Beyond the professional recognition, I felt honored that the organizers trusted me enough to invite me back for a second year.

The Marche region is also a beautiful part of Italy, rich in culture, history and stunning landscapes. Events like this remind me that tattooing is not only about art, but also about connecting with people and discovering new places through our profession.

Why Tattoo Judging Matters

Serving as a judge requires more than artistic skill. Judges are expected to evaluate composition, technical execution, healing quality, color application, creativity, anatomy, contrast and overall presentation. These invitations reflect years of professional experience, international recognition and dedication to the craft.

For me, being International Tattoo Jugde is also an opportunity to support other artists, encourage excellence within the industry and contribute to the growth of tattooing as an art form.
